Meet Brooks

Brooks is a young fellow who was on the flight with us from Dallas to Paris.  When Brooks and his mom took their seats on the plane just in front of us, Carl uttered an expletive.  It was a needless vocal gesture, because Brooks was more pleasant and cheerful than most of the other passengers on the plane--a real charmer.  When he wasn't sleeping, he was smiling and laughing--particularly at Carl and Robert.  Jordan and I thought, at first, that it was because the three of them are about the same height, but it turns out he was pleasant with everyone.

Traffic in Paris was absolutely crazy.  Took us about 45 minutes to get from Charles de Gaulle to the apartment that Carl has rented for us.  It is in an incredibly old building that has been subdivided.  Has a beautiful courtyard.  Jordan will take pictures of the apartment soon and we will get them posted.

We've settled in and unpacked.  We're getting ready to go out exploring the neighborhood.  We're going to do our best to stay awake until 8 or 9 p.m. so that we can get our internal clocks reset.

More later.
